Performed the UX & UI design in a period of one month of Golden Coffee delivery tracking App an app to offer delivery and pickup for workers who do not have the time to wait for their coffee and pastries. To apply the UX & UI Design I conducted interviews, User persona, User Journey Map, wireframing, prototyping, and Design system.

What are the opportunities for improvement?

Some customers do not have the time to wait before going to their coffee shop because they are on their way to work but they need a coffee to start their work day off right and at the moment they are at work they need the possibility to get their coffee without interrupting their work day.

  • People have little time to wait for a coffee on the way to work.
  • Users want to order coffee at work from their favorite coffee shop.
  • Some local applications do not have a pickup option, only a delivery option.
  • Local applications do not allow you to customize your coffee according to your preferences or allergies.

The solution

Design a mobile application that allows users to follow a simple ordering process that also allows them to customize their coffee to avoid ingesting any ingredient that causes allergies. Taking into account the main issues I designed the section that allows customers to order Pickup to avoid the stress of waiting and allow ordering delivery from work all this designing based on the data collected with surveys, user persona, and user journey; with this information, I proceeded to make wireframes, prototype, and mini design system to obtain a profitable digital product and value for the customer.

Methodology

The Design Thinking methodology is a tool that fits perfectly to understand the company, user, and the digital product that is being worked on, using tools, tests, and deliverables that belong to the user research process, prototyping, and usability testing it is possible to develop a high-quality product.

In order to lay the foundations, it was necessary to document the users and propose the first paper interfaces.

In order to correctly design the App, it was necessary to use tools such as interviews that allowed us to obtain the necessary information about the users, preferences, and points of improvement. Then it is necessary to define a User Person, and User Journey Map and start creating each of the wireframes, the prototype, and perform user tests to ensure that the final result fits correctly to the needs and interests of users. Generate each of the sections for the design of the delivery and pickup App.

Personalize your coffee at the moment
of ordering

To help users customize their coffee based on their preferences or allergies it is necessary to give the user the opportunity to have most of the ingredients at hand to select from. This is solved by using a list of ingredients and their options.

In the case of helping customers to select the type of order they wish to order through the delivery or pickup application, take into account that many people need to order coffee to take to work and do not have the time to wait at the coffee shop. As for the confirmation period, it is necessary for the client to have access to the different payment methods and the amount of coffee they wish to order. All these opportunities were taken advantage of by organizing the components to facilitate their use and the flow that users must follow.

Track orders with different methods

For this process, it is necessary to notify the user of the status of the product so that he is aware of the processes that are carried out with his order and avoid the stress of not knowing if his order was received. In terms of design, it is necessary to maintain similar elements to guide the user, in addition to labeling the most important processes so that the user knows how to contact the cafeteria, which gives him more control over the entire process to be served properly.

Aspects to take into account

In the case of Golden Coffee Delivery App, it is necessary to take into account new user flows in order to generate the sections of profile management, payments, management, onboarding screen, and other user flows necessary to complete the simple and intuitive experience that is being carried out in the App.

What did I learn when designing the App?

In this project one of my biggest learnings was to better understand the needs of customers who every day are transported to work and do not have the freedom to get their coffee or desserts from their favorite coffee shop due to lack of time, this allowed me to understand the user and their needs, besides analyzing the customers it was necessary to understand the competition to know the standards of the delivery and pickup app, this helped me to generate a simple and intuitive experience.
